About Us

We Believe We Can Do Better.

We live in a nation with the world’s best healthcare providers, with talent and resources second to none in tackling medical challenges. Unfortunately access to that healthcare is all too often limited. Patient’s access to quality, affordable healthcare is a matter of vital importance to all Americans. It’s why the APA exists. Because we believe we can do better.

The lack of adequate health insurance affects millions of patients in the United States year after year. And unfortunately, new threats emerge every day that obstruct patients’ ability to get the care they need. Corporate and insurance interests regularly take actions that limit or frustrate patients’ access to healthcare by supporting legislation that increases costs or reduces payments to healthcare providers who provide service to uninsured or under-insured patients in need.

The purpose of Americans For Patient Access is to fight these corporate and insurance efforts while working to protect Americans’ access to quality, affordable healthcare. APA promotes practices and regulations that expand access for uninsured and under-insured patients to immediate medical care and aid medical providers in offering their services to as many patients as possible.

APA’s Purpose

Americans for Patient Access’s purpose is to promote and expand access for uninsured and under-insured patients to immediate medical care and to aid medical providers in offering their services to as many patients as possible, regardless of their ability to pay. Through collaboration, education, marketing, and lobbying, APA informs federal and state lawmakers, policymakers, courts, and the public at large, of the benefits of under-insured and uninsured patients having access to quality medical care. APA also monitors and responds to efforts to limit, restrict, or expand access to necessary medical care for patients with limited financial means. Lastly, APA works to educate medical providers and Members on the most effective solutions for providing access to necessary medical care.
